Where the hell are we?

We are so many years into the future the number doesn’t matter anymore.

What matters is, mankind finally left the planet Earth and joined an intergalactic community that… really had no interest in us.

In fact, the rest of the universe found us pretty insufferable. Humanity’s self-importance had grown to such a level that we either refused, or were blind, to see how utterly insignificant we were in the grand scope of the cosmos.

(Y’know all those mean stereotypes about French people? That’s kind of what humanity was to everyone else.)

Countless years later, we’ve never quite recovered from that bad first impression. Now, humans are scattered across myriad worlds, just trying to make their way in an unforgiving, melting-pot universe.

Brave, resourceful, charismatic, and mysterious, Thade is CLEARLY the hero of this story. But he doesn’t care about all that. More than anything, Thade just wants to make an honest living and stay out of trouble.

Also called “Finn Thunderstealer” and “Dumb Quixote” (when Thade doesn’t think he’s listening), Finn THINKS he’s the hero of this story. The son of human emigrants who raised him to believe he was destined for greatness, Finn flings himself headfirst into quixotic scenarios that invariably end in headaches for Thade. He’s loud, obnoxious, immature, petty, naively racist about alien cultures (but he’s working on that!), and he whines.

But ultimately, his heart is in the right place. It’d have to be for Thade to keep putting up with him.
